Funded by the Vice Provost for Engaged Learning’s Global Engagement Strategic Plan, launched in 2023, these grant programs aim to encourage the development of new faculty-led education abroad programs at the University of Michigan. In Academic Year 2025-2026, ten grants of up to $24,000 each (up to $4,000 to support the faculty leader and up to $20,000 in matching funding to support student participants) will be awarded across the following categories:

"By engaging directly with garments, artifacts, markets, museums, studios, and urban fashion environments, students practiced close observation, visual analysis, and cultural interpretation. The program emphasized experiential learning, encouraging students to connect course concepts to real-world examples while deepening their understanding of how dress communicates identity, tradition, social values, innovation, and cultural exchange."
