December 06, 2024

Global Michigan Education Abroad Resource Grants
Application Deadline: February 21, 2025
Notification of Funding: late April, 2025

Funded by the Vice Provost for Engaged Learning’s Global Engagement Strategic Plan, launched in 2023, the Education Abroad Resource Grant program aims to encourage collaborative projects that build U-M infrastructure and resources to support education abroad. In its inaugural year, grants of up to $15,000 each will be awarded to proposals that help U-M units, faculty, and staff elevate undergraduate and/or graduate student study abroad support through shared resources, infrastructure, or program models. Proposals will be accepted twice a year. The Global Engagement Team will identify certain topics or areas as high priority.

For the Winter 2025 application cycle, proposals will be accepted that concentrate on one of the following areas:

  • Post-experience resources, support, and/or reflections for education abroad returnees: resources to help students integrate their experiences and maximize the benefits of their time abroad
  • Education abroad assessment: tools to evaluate study abroad programs and the experiences and outcomes of students participating in these programs

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a faculty or staff member employed at U-M Ann Arbor, Flint or Dearborn
  • Collaborators from at least 3 campuses/schools/colleges required, with at least one collaborator from Ann Arbor
  • Unit-level approval of the proposal must be provided
  • 25% cost sharing from home departments of project team members (staff time does not count as cost-share)

The application is live and can be found at https://myumi.ch/JwQX4. A complete application consists of a questionnaire, statement of purpose, budget, and letter of support. The deadline is February 21, 2025.
