Year of Global Engagement

Year of Global Engagement

The Year of Global Engagement features events, programs, and opportunities aimed at inspiring the U-M community to explore avenues for international learning, both here on campus and around the globe.

As we consider how we can deepen and increase the impact of our work in the Year of Global Engagement, we must approach our collective international engagement work with curiosity, an open mind, and a desire to learn from our partners, their culture, their practices and, most importantly, their values.

Valeria Bertacco, Vice Provost for Engaged Learning

Strategic Initiatives

The Global Engagement Strategic Plan, launched in Autumn 2023 by the Vice Provost for Engaged Learning, aims to increase and diversify student participation in international experiences through four strategic initiatives:

See Year 1 Impact Report for outcomes of the first year of the plan.

Year 2 initiatives will be amplified and supported by Year of Global Engagement events and programs.
