Student Perspective: Charlie in Madrid

Charlie Weissman

“My favorite memory from studying abroad was when I was invited to spend the day outside of Madrid with some friends I had met who were from Spain. They loved playing a European sport called Pádel which doesn’t exist in the US. They drove me outside the city and taught me how to play, and we spent a few hours playing together — speaking Spanish and English to try to understand each other well.

It was such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience because I hadn’t truly considered the possibility of developing profound friendships with locals and the little things they would teach me that would make my experience so fun. I continued spending time with them for the rest of my semester!”
