Women gather at the Iganga District Hospital early every Tuesday morning for healthy baby check-ups, immunizations, antiretroviral drugs and nevirapine – used to treat HIV infection and AIDS. The majority of my interviews were conducted here, where mentor mothers (trained counselors who are also living with HIV/AIDS) encourage women to disclose their status and network with one another for support.
