The Paris Opera

Meyer was part of the Center for Global and Intercultural Studies‘ Art in Paris program during the summer of 2014. Her photo won third place in the Sites category of the 2014 CGIS photo contest.
“This is the Opera Garnier, one of Paris’ opera houses. During our tour we got to peek inside the theater itself, and this photo shows the ceiling. It’s not the original ceiling (probably pretty obvious), which is still there underneath the current ceiling, painted by Marc Chagall in 1964. However, my favorite part of this photo is the chandelier, which always reminds me of the Phantom of the Opera because that book is set in the Opera Garnier.”
