Paris’ breathtaking Musée d’Orsay offers a view of the city from above that is just as beautiful as any of the artwork in its galleries. Standing behind the enormous clock that once kept travelers on time when the building used to house a train station, I looked out over the banks of the Seine and saw the spires of Sacré-Coeur cathedral poking out beneath the minute hand. A sense of the importance of time dominated my journey to France. Every building and paving stone was full of history and pride.
