The picture was taken in downtown Amsterdam by Ren Powers.
“I wanted to get off the beaten tourist track and see the real face of the cities I’m in. I saw this wall of graffiti that someone had dedicated to French realist writer Stendhal which sported posters promoting a concert for Dirty Fences—a New York band with close ties to the Netherlands—and against which someone had leaned their bike, I thought: this is the Amsterdam I want to take away with me.”
