Bamboo bridges
Bangladesh
Rajaram was doing a William Davidson Institute internship with CARE-Bangladesh when this photo was taken. She says: “Due to the monsoon, many dirt paths turn to mud. Bamboo bridges – balance beams, really – are constructed across these muddy areas. In this photo, the children were especially excited to watch us cross the bridges, and they followed us for a kilometer in hopes that we’d fall in the mud. Although we disappointed them by staying dry, they were extremely helpful in guiding us through the mud.”
