In the last few years, the Republic of Sudan has been embroiled in political turmoil as a result of long years of military rule, emblematic transition from military to civil rule and now a full scale war that has resulted in the death of thousands of people and the displacement of millions. The African Studies Center (ASC) at the University of Michigan is planning a high-profile one-day conference with a thematic focus on the conflict. The theme of this symposium is: “SUDAN: In the Eyes of the Storm”. The African Studies Center would like to invite you to participate as a panelist at the Symposium.
The conference will consist of intersectional panels made up of scholars, professionals, government representatives, students, activists and many others. We also plan to have journalists, ethnographers, archaeologists, activists with first hand knowledge of the Sudan based on their many years of work in the Sudan.
We hope that this event will bring more visibility to the crisis in Sudan.
